How do I get stiff clothes soft?
I bought new pants for my husband but they are so stiff. I use fabric softener in the wash and the dryer but they still come out stiff. I'm baffled!!

To make your clothes feel softer out of the wash, mix 1 cup of distilled white vinegar in the rinse cycle of the washing machine. Vinegar is non-toxic, but naturally dissolves the alkaline detergent. This alkalinity can cause clothes to stiffen, so white vinegar will reduce this stiffness and result in softer clothes.
I agree with the vinegar, it will definitely help softening up most clothes. I put it in my softener dispenser with each load. It also helps cut any leftover soap that may not have rinsed out of the clothes.
Certain types of material are naturally stiff. Gaberdine is strong like denim but stiff until worn a while. Even some denim can be stiff because they are heavy weight
nstead of average. You may have picked up work pants instead of casual wear. Best option is to see if store will take back and give you credit for another type of pants.
Christine....what type of material is it? Check label...does it mention washing instructions?
