Visit a specialty paint store and buy their best all in one paint. We painted a particle board and formica dresser 10 years ago with a very expensive Porter paint and even after 3 moves the paint is still clinging. Expect to spend $45- $60 for a gallon which may mean that buying a new piece of furniture might be more cost effective. Barbara you can use chalk paint. I've had luck with painting Ikea pieces, laminate pieces, etc. You can mix your own using 1 c paint (do a sample paint from Lowe's) and 1/4 c. plaster of Paris and about 2 T. hot water. If it's too runny just add a bit more paint. 2 coats should do it. Holler if you have questions or refer to https://www.gullycreekcottage.com/bedroom-pieces-with-new-look/
