How do I revive an old cast iron pot?
I have a cast iron pot probably 60 years old. It's been partially buried in the back yard. Other than terrible rust, it's solid. Any suggestions how to bring it back to be able to use?

Lucky you! Wash that pot really, really good. Then cover the inside with Crisco or lard. Don’t use butter as it will burn. Put in the oven at about 350 degrees F and let it “bake” for about 3 hours. Let it cool then wipe out the inside with a paper towel. You may have to do it a couple of times considering where it has been. I have a skillet I got from my mom. We used that skillet all through my childhood. I’m going to be 70 soon & I still use it. I do this every few months to keep it going. Good luck!
PS- When you wipe out the pot the towel will probably have a rusty looking stain on it. That’s ok. It’s just the stuff coming off of the iron.
