From what? If your house you need to clean everything (and i mean every single item in the home), from ceilings to floors. Also all upholstery needs to be cleaned as well as any carpeting. TSP or a vinegar water solution for any surface that is appropriate.

When we moved into our home, the previous owners smoked. I used a product called Awesome and cleaned everything, including cabinets, before moving in. We also bought an air filter for our HVAC that helps filter out smoke.
You'd need to clean everything out. Rugs/curtains/upholstery holds cigarette odors. After cleaning everything including air vents/filters etc. you can open the windows and air the place out and paint the walls to freshen it up. Cigarette smell is the worse. Makes me nauseous to my stomach. A total cleaning and airing out is needed.
