How do I update a half-wall?
I have a living room and kitchen combination with a half-wall separating the 2 areas. Is there a way to update this?

You could remove the half wall to open up the space. You would have to consider what that would do to your flooring. You could add some ship lap to this area or some faux brick.
Do you want to keep it a half wall? You could frame it out and add shelving to one side or to both with a middle divider. You could add square wood pieces (2 x 2) from the divider to a header panel up top. If you add the ugly columns that box stores that are carved you will make it look very dated. If you choose to make it a shelf on one side only you can add the shelving on the two ends and a large piece of art in the middle. The other option is to remove it entirely and open up the rooms.
Great idea! I love the ship lap idea. Thank you!
I would put a nice piece of wood on there and use it for a breakfast bar with stools and storage underneath to stabilize it.
Hi Jeanie ,
You could add shelving or Bamboo open type screen, or enclose with a top cabinet etc.
