How do you stain kitchen cabinets white?
Have beautiful wooden cabinets from 70's custom built-Love them but after over 30 years I want a little change. Don't want completely hide wood by painting them, but want to lighten them up. Is there such a thing as staining cabinets white-not colors , just white? Plan on possibility of using copper accents and hardware. And at age 71 I really want something kinda simple?? Cabinets have never been paint sealed, just rubbed with Tung Oil years ago and cleaned occasionally. Am I chewing off too much?

What color are they now? You would need to at least do some sanding as no stain or wash will be absorbed into the wood if oil is present. It is going to be a job, but certainly doable if you have time and patience.
You would need to sand down to raw wood. Stain need to absorb into the grain. Have you considered dry brushing or white washing them.
