Can I plan grass seed now and put straw over it and have it seed and grow into nice green yard. And what kind if grass is best to use?

For colder climates you can plant ryegrass, fescue, and Kentucky bluegrass for over seeding purposes. They will germinate and do well in the spring after the snow has ended. Hope this helps.
