How do you clean oven racks?
I read to wrap them in aluminum foil, put them in the bathtub covered in hot water, then add dishwasher tablets, but will this damage my bathtub? It is not porcelain... maybe it is fiberglass or some sort of 'plastic' feeling material. Anyone know any other 'magic' potion for cleaning the oven racks BESIDES elbow grease?

Hello, I research this myself, most manufacturers firmly state not leave racks in self cleaning oven during the cleaning cycle.
They need to be cleaned independently. It seems to be the best solution is to soak overnight in ammonia and these links below describe the process. Im consider using plastic bin that is sized for my racks rather than a plastic bag.
Other options do suggest using oven cleaner in a trash bag here as well as another solution.
Here are some helpful links that I hope will help —you choose the best solution for your need.

Debbie,. Get a large leaf bag that's strong. Use oven cleaner Easy Off. Spray the racks outside and put them in the bag with a twist tie overnight. Don't leave them outside. The next morning, take the rack and spray the oven cleaner off. Aloha!
Put them in a plastic bag spray them all over with oven cleaner let them sit for about an hour
Take a large black garbage bag put your racks in. Take bag outside add two cups of ammonia tie up and let sit over nite. Take a scrubby and garden hose and go to work scrubbing. Repeat if need.
Leave aluminum foil off and lay some old towels in your bathtub. Put oven racks in tub and cover with hot water. Add a dishwashing pod (I used Cascade) and let it all soak 4 hours or overnight. Use rough side of scrubby sponge for really stuck on grime, drain tub and rinse off racks. Sparkling clean and easiest way I’ve found to clean those dirty racks!
