How do I put a white washed finish on oak?
I have an older battlescarred oak dining room table that in Florida that I would like to give a white washed look to go with the rest of the coastal furniture in the condo. I have tried chalk paint and did not like the result. Is it possible to achieve this look without sanding? I don't really have an area at the condo where I can sand furniture.

You could use a pickled oak stain to lighten your oak. Otherwise, you may have to white wash, with paint.
Hi Gabby, buy a water based light gray or white semi transparent stain, use a brush and put a light coat on a section, then use a rag to gently wipe it off in the same direction as the grain of the wood. do this over the entire table as many times as required to achieve the look you want.
