How do I mount military medals in a shadow box for display?

I just recently lost my parents and would like to display their WWII medals. I purchased shadow boxes and small pins, but I don’t know how to begin. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Take the box apart, lay the medals out in a pattern that is pleasing to you, then pin them. Put the box together - Easy peasy.
