How do I repair or replace a ceiling fan light in my bathroom?

The ceiling fan / light in my bathroom doesn't work per say. . I have a dual light switch. One for the lights above the sink & the other's for the ceiling fixture. If ya turn it on, the fan will come on for just a minute or two, then right back off & doesn't matter if the switch is turned up or down & the light doesn't work at all. So I'm wondering if maybe I just need to replace the whole fan / light or could this be an electrical problem ? Please help, any & all info will be appreciated. Thank You !

Your electrical circuit could be overloaded, or the problem may be with the fan's wiring. Best to call an electrician.

Replace your fan with a newer model and your problem should go away.

Sounds like an electrical problem, like a loose connection, probably caused by the fan’s vibration.

I would buy a new energy star, low Sones, high CFM unit and have it installed, if you don’t know how.

If you have an electrician provide the fan/light unit, you’ll pay for him/her to go shopping for you. So I buy my own equipment.

Before getting installation quotes, I would take it down and look at where your venting/ducts are going & what condition the ceiling wiring is in.

If the ductwork ends in the attic and not outside, that should be fixed. You can do that yourself and an electrician officially doesn’t do ductwork.

Knowing the full Scope Of Work keeps one from paying too much.

This “checking” Must be done with the breaker OFF.

Verify that it is fully OFF with an electrical testing meter (free at Harbor Freight with purchase & coupon).

Indoor Air Quality in bathrooms is a big deal and mold exposure is the culprit.
