How can I block out traffic noise?

My town has grown since I first moved here. I now have constant traffic going at least 45 mph in front. I want to know how to muffle the noise. (DIY). Can’t change landscaping. Tried a thick curtain- no difference. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, but I have it in the front AND along the side! And if the cars and motorcycles aren't enough, I have big semi's too. This is not a truck route!!

You can always try white noise. I bought something from Amazon a while ago for my husband who was working weird house. He would sleep during the day when everyone was awake. The white noise machine came with lots of different sounds and settings. Something like this could help or here is a site with more ideas: https://www.thespruce.com/soundproof-your-room-or-apartment-4062945

    Hi Dede,

Looks like you are going to step up your action on this nuisance noise.

A friend of ours lived near an airport and was having no problems with noise until they changed the flight patterns, they were flying low enough to her house where she could see the passengers. The airport in response to this came out and installed sound proof windows for her and her neighborhood. That blocked the noise entering from that source. You could check on Angie's list for the companies that should have this skill and product, carefully interview them and specifics about their products. Then check the reviews by people who have had their noisy environment fixed.

You may want to consider insulating around the door if you have not done so already, the thick sticky kind that absorbs or blocks variations in temp, this is available at DIY stores and other places like Walmart.

These 2 ideas maybe just enough for your situation .
