Hello Marcia! With the proper tools installing ship lap is fairly simple. I used the premade primed ship lap and cut it into lengths to fit. Each board overlaps so you don't have to worry about spacing between boards. This to me is the easiest and fastest route to take. I purchased my ship lap from Home Depot. Arauco is the brand. It comes in different lengths.
