How should I re-do this lamp shade?
How should I re-do this lamp shade, any suggestions? Like the lamp, but is there something that I can do to make it a bit more modern/up-to-date? It is the original and it is now old, discolored, and has some slight dents in it.

Lynn, my opinion is keep it the way it is. It looks elegant. You could try steaming it to get it back in shape.
If you don’t want to purchase one, (Ross, TJMAXX, HOME GOODS) have great prices) you can wrap/ glue twine around it.spray inside gold. You can also wrap a tight yarn around and do an ombré effect. I think that will hide dents, and bring it up to date.
Spray paint the lamp shade.
I painted my lampshade and I love how it looks. Good luck.
Get rid of it and get another.
Paint a light gray or blue n use rope or ribbon around bottom n top for update
TBH the shade is perfect for the lamp as is....the shape and color of the charming lamp are just right for the existing shade. But if you want a totally new look I would spray the base a new neutral color and then spray a band or 2 of a metallic color on top of that area of the base. Then install a new shade that is not tapered (a straight up and down shaped cylinder) with a band of the same metallic color painted on the shade.
