What color décor are you planning on using in the basement? I would go by what would look good with that.
We have to use our old green and off white checked couch and chairs-High quality but old fashioned!
If paneling is darker wood, paint the table white. This will then coordinate with your furniture, which is most likely traditional in styling.
I would paint them off-white to match the checked color in the sofa and chairs. Then I would paint the paneling the same off-white in an eggshell finish (it will bounce light around the room). Now select a patterned something, such as a rug or toss pillows or side panels for the windows, from which to pull a third color. With green and off-white, consider something in the purple or gold families. For example, if the basement is always a little cold, a nice square (it's more modern, yet will go with the "old" sofa) bright sunflower gold braided rug will warm up the room. Add some curtains in the same color. Find some toss pillows in aubergine and yellow/gold pattern for the sofa, and toss an aubergine throw over one of the chairs.
Thank you so much-great ideas!
