Michael,
That is rather large for a gate. I have built several and one thing I learned is the larger it is, the more likely it will sag and warp over time. Does it need to be that large to allow entry of machinery or are you just filling the space? How big is the posts it is going to be attached to? Unless you have true 5x5 posts sunk 3 feet into the ground and securely tamped, the gate is going to loosen the post in the soil and pull it down towards the latch side. If you have a round post, or square 4x4 (only 3.5x3.5) it will not hold a heavy gate that wide. There are many ways of building a gate. Depending on the type of fence you have, you will want something complimentary, and, are you using it for privacy, which will also determine how you build it. If you go with that size, make it light as possible. I would use kiln dried cedar for the frame and square, tight lattice (real wood lattice) for the panel. You will need three heavy duty hinges as well. Remember that your cross brace or Z brace should go from the top of the latch side to the bottom of the hinge side. If you post a picture of the fence and opening, we could give better suggestions.
