I just repaired my work boots with Loctite fast grip construction adhesive. I walk my dogs a mile a day and it is holding up really well. The entire sole around the heel pulled away from the leather and they are pretty new so it was worth a shot. Working great.
You need a glue that is compatible with rubber so be sure to check the label before purchasing. Clamp after gluing, if necessary.
Duck tape
Duct tape inside then on the outside apply SHOE GOO on the exterior to fill in and seal the split.
