What do you mean by "redo"? Are you replacing an existing vent? If so, you remove the current one and feed the venting through the opening once the old one is removed.
Where does your vent go now? Above your finished ceiling is maybe some insulation or an open joist bay. Typically you would run your dryer duct out through the rim joist (sits above your basement wall and mud sill) to the outside. You would need to remove a section of ceiling in order to be able to do that if you are changing the location of the dryer vent duct. It does not have to be a large section. If you drill through the rim joist from the outside (that way you don't need lots of room inside to manipulate a drill) you might be able to get away with only drilling a hole that is the same size as the dryer duct through the ceiling. Drilling from the outside will mean going through your siding to get to the rim joist. Dryers use a 4" duct size. You will need to buy a 4" hole saw bit for a drill to make a clean opening. I am not sure what your current set-up is like so you may need some other hardware and insulating foam to seal the hole through the rim joist. You will also probably need a 4" dryer duct wall connector only you would use it in your ceiling.
Are there any options, beyond the pantyhose over the hose or the water box the hose is attached to? One makes my home dusty and the other SO humid and duusty.
