Is there anyway to put new material over the velvet. There is no paint that I know of that can be used.

You can still reupholster. You really can't paint velvet. You only paint non plush fabric.

I think she dyed it. Everyone who I know that tried that said it was like sitting on crunchy grass and looked bad.

  • I’ve but seen a lot of folks on Hometalk, Pinterest, blogs, etc. discuss using Dixie Belle paint for painting upholstered furniture. I don’t know if it works on velvet nor have I personally tried it. But I believe that’s the brand you’re looking for. Good luck, let us know how it turns out!

Thank you. Yes, Dixie Belle paint is what someone else used. My problem is that I can not find it in any of the stores in my area ( Massachusetts) I did see it in the Midwest, but too far to travel there
