How to get smoke smell from a popcorn ceiling?
My sister-in-law rented a mobile home that has popcorn ceilings. Previous renters obviously smoked cigarettes and now is looking for a way to get that smell out. Landlord not helpful. Any suggestions?

Smoke will stay on walls and especially in carpet. Clean what you can, all you can do with ceiling is paint.
The best way I've found is not a DIY project or product, but a Hot Shot fogger to get rid of smoke odor in everything. Yes, you can paint popcorn ceilings, but I doubt it would completely eradicate the odor as cigarette smoke permeates into places cleaning can't reach. The best way is with a paint sprayer/spray gun. You would have to get the owner/management company's approval first.
We had a smoker in the house for 10 years. After they left I washed all I could with Fabuloso including the walls. Painted everything including the ceiling and garage. Now you cannot tell a smoker was living there.
My father used to run a turn key service and swears by ozone generators for homes permeated with smoke odors, even after cleaning and painting. You set it in front of a box fan and let it run for 30 minutes on a timer. You can't have people or pets in the home while you run it or 30 minutes afterwards.
This is the one he used and it comes with the timer: https://www.foreverozone.com/collections/air-ozone-generators-for-odors-mold-green-pest-control/products/3500-mg-h-bare-bones-ozone-generator
He gave one to me after he retired and I used it for a car someone smoked in. It did an amazing job of clearing the smell out.
