I love my white painted wide baseboards, but they are difficult to keep dirt and dust free. Anything abrasive will remove the paint.
We used semi-gloss paint. Should we have used a sealer too?

Hello I would suggest washing with a magic eraser for stubborn areas with scuffs or microfiber cloth- white moldings do need routine cleaning. Use the soap or cleaner of your choice, often Dawn dish detergent will suffice.
If you buy a good quality semi or I use high gloss white paint and you should not need a sealer then I just vacuum the baseboards when dusty first then if needed I wipe them with a wet cloth and turns out nice for me. and you can use a cleaner like what has been mention depending on your situation.
As long as it's glossy, you should be good. I find I have to wipe them down an awful lot - just from dog hair and dust.
No answer- just very related question. Our glossy/semi glossy base boards (in our 130 year old house) have a lot of detail on the top. 3 0r 4 deep “divot-ed” lines/layers. Short of sticking my nails in one by one and running them as deep into the lines all through the house as I can with spray (which eventually makes my finger tips bleed, btw, I’ve done this), any ideas? Is there some invisible spray or barrier I can put there to block dust from accumulating so deep.
A vacuum takes out some, but not all.
Magic eraser takes the shine off. It’s essentially very fine sandpaper.
thanks!
That’s what I want to know too. That’s why I was asking about maybe a sealer?
Thought maybe a professional painter or brilliant mind might have an answer??
I vacuum in my socks, and raise my foot and "dust" the baseboards as I go.
What a clever thing! Thanks.
