I have heard of dry brushing.
For me, dry brushing is used to touch up or add some accent areas. To try, get a clean dry brush and just use a little paint on the tips of the bristles, add a highlight. Maybe this is what people were talking about.

Dry brushing?? It just means to make sure there is very very little paint on the very end of your paintbrush. It creates a special weathered effect.
