How do I have the water heater produce hot water?
we just bought a new house and the water heater had been winterized.when we first used the water we had some hot water but it has all turned cold.this is an electric water heater not gas.thank you for your assistance

I'd call a plumber. Could be heating element, thermostat... hopefully still under warrenty.
Look for the gauge, they may have turned it down for some reason. Turn the temperature up a bit. If that doesnt work, let me know and tell me what brand you have and we can troubleshoot further.
The previous owners may have had the temperature lowered. If it is brand new there should be a warranty with this. or call the name on the heater and see if they can help? I am not aware of electric water heaters but on my gas heater it is easy to control the temperature knob. Just one thing I do is that the drain spigot on the bottom of tank I put a bucket underneath and turn it on if it is brown looking and let it run till there is clean water coming out then shut if off this keeps the sediments from setting on the bottom and it will rot the bottom of tank. I do this least twice a year.
