i hope you already did this
Super easy to do! First, shut off the water supply to the toilet. Then flush it to empty the tank. You can eliminate most of the risk of water by using a meat baster to remove the remnants of water in the bowl but there really won't be much.
Disconnect the tank from the bowl, just to make things lighter and less unwieldy. Carry both to the curb and say "bye" to the crappy crapper!
You need a new wax ring placed on the flange on the floor. Remove the old, yucky one completely first. You'll want throw away latex gloves, newspapers and something to use to dig it out like a paint stirrer or screwdriver. Clean up the sticky mess everywhere lol!
If you have the original floor, all you need is a new wax ring the same diameter as your flange. If you've put in a new floor but the toilet was never raised at that time, you may need a "wax ring extender" (I did). Place in the flange.
Bring in the new toilet, carefully place it over the wax ring and lower it into place. You may need 2 people to do this so you don't ruin the wax ring. This is important so you don't have a leak at the bottom.
Screw the toilet in place using the new screws it came with. If they are too long for the plastic finish piece to sit on top, cut it down with a hacksaw or small pipe cutter.
Turn the water back on and VOILA! 😎👍🤗
We did this last week. Used this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYCFH4tpWJQ
