I just bought house with sky light over dining room table. With cold and heat differences, condensation builds up on aluminum sides and drips on table. Would painting metal help or is there another solution?

Most likely the seal is broken, there are usually two pieces to a skylight along with the hardware. I'm afraid if you repair it you'll just throw good money after bad. It's really best to replace it and get someone qualified who can do it, then you would have someone to hold accountable.
Paint will not cure your problem with dripping. You may need to install a small fan near the window in order to keep the air in that location circulating so that you do not have the problem.
No unfortunately you can’t fix that I hade that problem to you might have air coming in check with a match or candle it may need tar on the roof or caulking the cold air I’s coming in and hiring the warm air and makes the condensation it’s coming in some were on the window seam
