How do I paint the tile on my oak dining table?
Has anyone painted an oak dining table with tile on top. I would like to paint the whole top black and leave pedestal the oak to match chairs?

You'll need to prep the tile, by cleaning it very well with TSP water and I would lightly sand it and then wiping down with denatured alcohol. The grout will be critical.
I would buy paint made for painting tile, which has to have it's specific type of binding primer. I would go to a full-line pro paint shop, not a DIY Big Box store, to get expert advice and any color you want. Then follow the directions to a "T".
It may make noxious fumes and make sure that when you're at the paint store, you look at the VOC's and the ventilation requirements. It may be something that you'll want to wait until the garage warms up or you can open the windows.
Kathy, have you considered replacing the tiles? A table surface will get a lot of abrasion. I would be tempted to remove the old tile, paint the wood, then re-tile with whatever tile you like. Maybe a black granite tile?

In the meantime put a table cloth on it.
You can replace the tiles with hard wood planks or laminate planks, a lot easier than painting the tiles.
Hi Kathy. it's easy to ,mask off the wood you want to protect with frog tape and paper. Here's a hometalk video to help you out.
