How to choose window treatments for this wall?
I have plantation style blinds which I absolutely love! But I’d like to add a valance or something over them. What look would you suggest over these type of blinds. Mainly for my living room. Just seems naked without having window treatments. Thank you!

Try floor to ceiling sheer curtains.
Please send us a picture, so that the valance goes with your décor theme.
Strips from a couple dresses and some ribbon. Cut a small slit on one end and pull the strip of clothe thru and done
I believe the ones in the picture are actually plantation shutters. I wouldn't put anything over them because they are meant to be the window covering. There is a difference between those and just wide slat blinds. I would have to see the actual room to be more specific but I do think they should match the trim around the window. If you think the top need something then you could make the top trim piece larger. Maybe put some crown moulding on it.

Either , paint the trim around the window the same color as the walls, or the same color as the blinds, the white is too stark. Only add a very simple valence for a cleaner finished look to the blinds. Either the same wood look or a shelf would look attractive.
Once I used a table runner, across the top of a window, and just tacked it into place with actual tacks. Thicker ones you can nail in. Just a thought.
Since this looks like it might be over the sink in a kitchen, I would pick something that would not get in the way. I would probably pick a faux wood blind that could be raised when you wanted to see out and closed when you want it open.
I would buy a tension rod and just drape a pretty shear curtain around it, like this

I agree with the other person, that the trim around the blinds should be the same wood color as the blinds. I understand why you painted the trim in the kitchen because of the cabinets. But you were asking mainly about your living room. For the living room, you want a soft and welcoming feel. I'd hang sheers down the ends of the windows and a matching sheer scarf along the top like this.

For the kitchen blinds I'd do something around the trim to separate the trim from the cabinets.
I hope this helps. I found a website on:

Thank you everyone for such great suggestion. I love the idea of wide crown molding above and for the living room and my bedroom I think I’m going to also use this idea in this picture. You’re all fantastic. Oh and all the trim in the house is white. It was like that when I bought it. Because I painted my cabinets white I’ll be leaving the trim that way.
