Good morning Tony,
One thing to keep in mind is pre-emergence. It goes out about a month before Spring...I am in zone 7 and the lawn service put it out last week. (11th of Feb.)
This keeps seeds from germinating! I personally think this helps keep down weeds.
Whatever you buy, read the directions as to strength and frequency.
