How to get scent out of clothing?
An article of clothing got too close to one of those plug-in scent refills and absorbed some of the liquid from it. I have washed this article twice and soaked it in vinegar water. The smell is still there. What else can I try before tossing in trash?

Put it next to a smell you like. Seriously, I can't think of anything else you could do beyond what you have done. Hanging it out in the sun and wind may help.
Don't toss, donate!
Try hydrogen peroxide in water to soak.
You might try sprinkling it with a heavy coating of baking soda and sealing it up in a plastic bin for a week or so. After washing out the baking soda, air dry in the sun.
Most of those scents will fade with time. You could hang the garment in your garage or laundry room and let it air out for a few weeks.
