Lamp shades in kitchens must be scrubbable.
Kitchens are full of grease-laden vapors and they land on everything, trapping dust, making a surface that must be cleaned with grease-cutting cleansers and elbow grease.
I would look at Craig's List, Nextdoor and FB Marketplace for cheap local used lights and modify them from there.
