How do I best clean extremely dirty and dusty, old wooden furniture?

I have some old, solid wood china cabinets, tv cabinets, bureaus, and book cases that are extremely dusty and grimey from being neglected in storage for many years. They also have scratch marks that need tending to. How do I clean and restore this formerly beautiful furniture all by myself? Thanks for your kind advice.

Look for a spray product called Krud Kutter cleaner ! It worked great on old Grimsby cabinets ! I believe it can be used on wood , but read the label , just in case . You can also use orange or lemon oil . A lot of people swear by Murphy's oil soap , but I don't think it works as well .

  • Murphy's Oil Soap is my vote. Old English products work well too. So does a vinegar water solution.

Don't laugh at this, My wife uses mayonnaise to clean furniture. She used it on some newly stained doors in her parents new home that were stained to dark and it removed some of the stain. The doors are beautiful. Also the furniture she has cleaned.
