How to repair cracking caulk?
What is the best way to repair a gap above kitchen cupboard units and the ceiling. The existing caulking has cracked. Should it be removed first, or just more filler added (silicone perhaps)?

If it’s in rough shape you should remove it first otherwise you won’t get the results you want
Remove the old caulking and replace it with new silicone caulk. If the gap isn’t very large use a small squeeze tube of caulk rather than the large ones that go in a caulking gun.
Agreed, replace if you can and re-caulk.
you could use 1/4 round trim molding to cover gap instead of any type caulking;definitely need to remove old then redo it it'll look much better silicone caulking can be really hard to get off again if you need to repair it again it will come off but leaves residue
