Try rubbing a dryer sheet (Bounce) over it and this should lessen the static.
Homes get dry in the winter. Do you have any humidifiers running? That helps also.
Sounds like you could use some moisture in the air. Dried out from the heater and winter. We added a humidifier to our furnace it helped out with many issues.
