Note black horizontal line...that is a tape mark. The color of the existing floor we love. We will need to use a paint that comes in different colors so that we can mix and match to blend with existing floor in rest of the home that was not damaged.
How do you strip, prime, paint & seal an indoor finished cement floor?
our inside floor throughout home needs help! When we purchased it the sealer was off in some places resulting in anything with oil in it when dropped on floor left permanent stains. In addition when the home was under remodel the contractor without knowing, taped paper down on floor thruout house to protect it while remodeling. months later when he removed it , permanent tape marks were left throughout the house. He tried multiple strippers and cleaners ...but no luck. Our floor needs help. Between stains and tape marks it is bad! We are now looking at starting over.STRIP, PRIME, PAINT, AND SEAL. We are especially concerned about paint coming up when chairs around dining room table are being moved in and out, etc. ANy help on best products to use would be so helpful and greatly appreciated. One concern is type of paint....have heard never to use latex...but if good primer is on floor is it still an issue.Should we stay with epoxy. We will need to be mixing paint colors in order to match the multiple colors on floors in other rooms that were not ruined.once again, any tips or help you can give us is so appreciated.Thank you so much,Cheryl Drewel PS note black horizontal line in photo, that is tape mark

Muriatic acid is an excellent cleaner for concrete floors. If you have flaking paint then maybe a large floor sander would bring it back so that you can seal it and then paint it with a special floor enamel or use the epoxy which is used for garage floors. Be sure to wear protective clothing and gloves and eye protection when using the acid.
My vote is to get a concrete contractor in and have them provide suggestions. Staining and polishing will last far longer than paint. Here is how to hire any contractor.

Hi Cheryl. Cleaning with muriatic acid should do it. Just make sure to use eye protection, gloves, and rinse very well! I have painted concrete floors done with a black, pink, and white scroll design, copied from my favorite rug. You will need to use a primer and paint specifically for concrete, after the floors have completely dried. Sherwin Williams makes both and they have held up beautifully, both indoors and outdoors.(7years) You can get any color desired. The key is the primer after a good cleaning.😊
Please be sure you have very adequate ventilation as some of these products can fry your brain.
Don't forget felt pads for the bottom of your pull out kitchen chairs! Always good for end tables, too!
Our basement is tiled and the previous owners painted it but didn't seal it. The paint scrapes off easily. Can we repaint the floor over the old paint and seal it?
