Julie simply buy a long metal boxs. hang this from the side of your house, Plant your herbs in these. make sure you have some drainage. Another solution is to have someone attach holding rails to your home, place a board on these, plant your herbs in different containers.
Pick up a second hand patio or picnic table. Grow in pots and place on table. I did that on the years following my back surgeries.
