How do you kill Japanese Knotweed?
I had an unidentified thing in my yard when I moved in 2014. I thought it was a bush that just needed to be trimmed and since I hadn’t planted anything...I just left it. Following spring I decided I wanted to start perriniels so I wanted to move the “bush” This thing is monstrous. Trimming made it grow bigger ...I decided to pull it out of the ground well, the branches are hollow and snap in your hand. I tried to dig it up only to find roots that had tentacles growing from a paw shaped glob in the ground. The tentacles wrap themselves around the rocks and stones that are pervasive in the rocky clay we have for soil in Pennsylvania. I’ve tried all the weed killers including roundup. At the end of the season I injected straight glyphosate into the stems hoping that as it entered dormancy the injection would be fatal.... don’t know what to do next....any suggestions?

Its a VERY sticky vine. Root BALLS spread like soft butter and look like big clummped up rootabagers.
I’m not sure I understand, where the injections fatal?
If not, Chain saw the trunk as low as you can, hatchet the trunk so that the splits go down into the ground and then apply the Round Up directly to the fresh cut trunk, with a brush.
Of course you know about adequate “set time” before precipitation.
If it was fatal, you may have tie a chain around the root base, and pull it out with a truck’s tow hitch.
WOW sounds like a hellava process. I don't know all about the chain saw, etc...but I do know that if you can get to a good sized cut area and paint with RoundUp as she mentioned, it will Zap it !!
We used round up extend and it did the trick!
