Most stains can be removed with a bit of baking soda, warm water and dish liquid. Go over the area again with a mix of vinegar and water to remove the soap residue.

Hello Jean. I use a product called Woolite Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner. It comes with a brush built in the lid. You spray it on the stain. Let it set for a couple minutes and then scrub it with the brush that comes built in the lid. A little goes a long way with this product. I have used this for a few years and always happy with results.
