Hi Linda,
Here's an article that has progressive steps for you to try. The ultimate method depends on a lot of factors, including how long the stain has been there and how deep it has penetrated. I hope this helps you. Wishing you the best.

If you are trying to make old wood look like new by removing old water stains, I don’t think you can get there from here. You will have to sand down to the stain level, and sand that entire leek away. When a water stain is fresh, you can try to heat the stain with an iron or heating pad so that the moisture evaporates and goes away. This can also work with wine or Kool-Aid stains, with an absorbent cloth to catch the color, fluid and sugar. I learned this when my sons were both in cloth diapers for the same two years. But I had much less success with “antique” wood and stains. The fresher the stain, the easier and more successful the removal. I hope this helps you or saves you time in choosing options.
Hello Linda. Begin by making a paste out of olive oil and salt. Put this paste on the water stain and walk away. Leave it there for at least an hour. Then wipe it all up with a clean cloth. This method will let the salt pull out the moisture and the oil will replenish the wood. Good luck Linda. I hope this helps you.
