How can I replace the ugly laminated kitchen counters in a rental?
This ugly laminated kitchen top is an eyesore. Any suggestions what I can use to replace the kitchen surface of my rental kitchen at an affordable price.

you need to try and sand out the dark area and put in something like a bit of fiberglass which can be bought in a small kit at the auto or hardware store.

Genie, use wood putty to fill in the pits. (Apply to fill, let it dry, use a little piece of sandpaper to smooth it out, use a level—$1 at Dollar Tree—, then paint the whole counter in a color or design you like. You can even put a sealer over it, like polyurethane. I’ve used this method on tables and even on a sink. Best wishes!
