How long should my curtains be?
I have a picture window and a small 30x63” window in my living room. As I need to have the panels hemmed, How far below the window sill should they hang? I’m using 63” length on my picture window. Should the hanging length below each window be equal? Thanks for any advice. 😀

Hi Patty,
Generally speaking if the windows are in the same room or theme of rooms (like and open living room dining room combination), the curtains look best when they are the same length. The length you prefer is what you should go by. Best to you.
There is no "right" length for window curtains. If you want to give the illusion of longer windows, let them hang longer and hang the bracket higher than the upper window frame. The days of hemming windows to the edge of the window sill are over---- I prefer to have all of the curtains in one room look uniform, so I would let the curtains on this window match the look of others.
Our sheers come past the bottom of the windows, but our curtains come all the way to the floor. They are on one rod. If you have two rods the curtains can come past all the window frames etc. and above it close to the ceiling if you like or about a foot above or just above.
Much of this depends on your furniture placement. If furniture can be placed out from walls, hang curtains to the floor, but if furniture must be located beneath these windows, you'll need to determine whether or not hanging draperies to the floor will pose a problem in opening and closing the draperies.
Patty....I agree with no designated length...it's what you like.
All of my curtains also go all the way to the floor in the living room.
