You can use bleach to remove the mold, then sand the wood and seal it again with varnish.

Clean it with bleach water to rid of the surface mold. Spray vinegar on the area to kill the spores and it will also deodorize it. Let it dry with the vinegar on it so it has a chance to kill all the spores it can. Bleach does not kill the spores, only works on cleaning and lessening the stain.
