These are so cheap. I use them on sinks and the shower. I used a hanger bent to do the job before I knew about this little thing. If there is a screw on cover just unscrew and pop it off. If it’s like those circle stoppers on your tub like on most sinks this goes around the outside edge and will still maneuver down the drain. It’s just hair and you’ll be able grab it and yank it out.
Called Zio-It at Hardware Stores... Lowe's and Home Depot.
Zip-It....not Zio-It
Hello, This can be a frequent consideration if you have someone blessed with curly long hair like we do.
Even though we have an auger, most commonly we find that our drains need to be physically fished out. Either using an unbent hanger as a refashioned hook or plastic barbed tool from the dollar store to explore the drain obstruction.
Fishing out the blockage with that in -our experience— to partially involve hair seems to most readily alleviate stoppage in our faucets and shower/ tub drains.
There are some retrofit devices out there and that could be helpful if you get your drain clean consider the little mushroom cap for collecting the hair. There is also a more refined looking chrome for one but if you look at customer reviews and Q&A’s it seems like this mushroom one has a higher review. You may consider having a look at these existing devices to see if that will help the problem from from reoccurring.

This is a tub/shower combo?
Hair is the biggest culprit. Pull out the drain or screen over it and put a plastic hair snake in there. There about $1.50, max. Try pulling out the hair. It will be an icky mess.
After that, fill it with Hair Clog Removing Drain Cleaner. It isn’t cheap, but compared to getting a plumber out there, it’s pennies.
That Drano needs to sit all night.
The next day do not shower until you get the Drano washed down with HOT water. Don’t splash any of that water on your skin.
A great question Susan and one we have all encountered at one time or another.

I used a zip it drain cleaner to get hair out of the shower drain.
