Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
Hi Kim,
Move your feeder as far away from your garden as possible, they are being drawn by the food you provide.
I have a hanging feeder and hung it on a tree limb. Then put a 30gallon plastic or rubber wastebasket below it to catch the tossed out seed. Birdies are very messy eaters😏😘
Ohhh love that idea! Thank you!!!!
If you want to feed the squirrels then you need to place some "Blood Meal" around the bae of your shrubbery and plants to deter them. Old seed needs to be constantly cleaned up around any feeders to stop any fungus from growing.
Hi Kim, My son is mentally disabled and he makes bird feeders to keep busy. Over the years we have learned a lot of information about birds and squirrels. The trick is to get no mess, no waste bird seed. It has no shells or fillers. Fillers are the worst because the birds just spit it out on the ground and things grow from them. The no mess, no waste bird seed seems a bit more expensive but the birds and squirrels eat it all up. If it falls on the ground the birds just go down and eat it. It also does work out to be more economical in the end because you are not paying for all the shells and fillers that you get in regular seed. I have three feeders in my yard. Two have the seeds for the birds (smaller chopped sunflower seeds) and bigger chunk type for the squirrels. No one fights over which one they should eat. My yard is full of fat, healthy, happy critters. Hope this helps you.
