Check the burlap to be sure it is colorfast. (Rub some of the burlap on a scrap of white T-shirt or other cloth. If the burlap leaves even a light dye stain on the white cloth, the burlap will fade in the sun and the color will run into your patio or whatever when the burlap gets wet, but burlap lasts quite a while.
Just something else for you to consider: Place the basket in the center of a big piece of burlap. Pull the sides up to see the height you need, plus a few inches. Cut the burlap into a manageable circle. Use a thin BUNGEE CORD to hold the burlap around the basket, or use twine or grapevine. Add a bow or other ornamentation if you wish. As a liner or cover, burlap is a great choice. Best wishes!
