Get a tub of warm sudsy water using blue dawn dishsoap and add about 1/2c vinegar, soak your filters in this and wipe the rest of the hood down. Rinse with clean water and a dishrag.
Wash with dish soap. It is designed to cut grease.

My range hood is metal so after cleaning with some Dawn in a bucket I apply a coat of car wax. That makes it much easier to clean the next time around.
