How to get rid of a wrinkle in a rug?
This is an area rug. The wrinkle isn’t all of the way across , only about 5 inches. I’ve tried melting ice cubes on it and putting heavy objects on it, no luck.

Hi Georgie, have you tried ironing your area rug. This video will show you how - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gi5p0mK-Zc
My husband and brother used to have a rug laying business. The only way to remove such a wrinkle properly is with a tool called a knee kicker. It has teeth in one end and you push it with a knee to push the wrinkle out and reattach it to the carpet strips along the edge. Georgia, this is probably too hard for most women, although I have women friends in construction who could manage it. You can rent the knee kickers by the day or half day. Perhaps you know an able bodied man or relative who could help you. This will permanently remove the wrinkle and keep it looking nice. Hope this helps, Georgia.
Try laying something heavy on it for a time to see if this helps. Take your steam iron and use the steam over top of the wrinkle, not right on the carpet, and then lay down the weight.
I would think dampening the rug (underneath) and then laying something heavy on it OR like Joy mentioned, maybe a steam iron held over the crease (not ironing it...just steaming it with hot steam) would work. Might have to leave the weight on the area rug crease for a few days. Good luck.
I am not sure a knee kicker will work if your area rug is not attached to the wall.
