How can I dust my house and spring clean when I now have COPD?
I now have COPD with chronic bronchitis. I'd like to do my normal spring cleaning which includes washing soft surfaces (stuffed furniture) and all curtains. However the dust, including heavy duty dusting, will be a serious issue. I welcome all recommendations on getting this done - paying somebody is not an option. Thank you!

I understand your need to spring clean, and your COPD limits. I suggest wearing a good dust mask, make sure there is good ventilation and get frequent fresh air.

If you wear Oxygen, make sure you have it even while wearing the dust mask.
Dont over do, take it slow, one room at a time and shut the room up for a while after it is done to make sure that the dust that is in the air has time to settle again, then go back for another light dusting.

All great suggestions here. Wear a mask and try "wet dusting."

Check with your doctor's too, see what they recommend.
As Naomie suggested, mask & wet dusting. I would add that you can get microfiber dusters that "grab" the dust rather than spread it back into the air. I bought a set and absolutely love them. The longest has a 12' handle so I can take it outside and shake it clean far away from me.
