Anterlitta....Please call a professional. It may cost but it will save much more!
Anterlitta, if you've snaked it and it still won't drain it may be time to call a professional such as Roto-Rooter or another company. You may have a broken line (old ones were clay tiles) or you may have tree roots that have gradually cut off your system. A professional company will have a mini-camera they can add to their snaking equipment and they'll be able to detect exactly where and what the problem is. Then you can decide if you'll try to remedy the problem on your own or with their help.
Go to your local home improvement store and get a sump pump.
Sometimes you can get help from city/county water department. Are you running the snake down the main clean-out? Usually all homes have a large 3" pipe sticking up in front or back yard with a cap on it. Depends on where sewer line is running. Not only stuff that gets flushed...tree roots can get into the line. If the damage is on their property it's their crew fix it for free. On your property you pay. Roto rooter and similar companies are great at what they do and sewer dept will try their best to make it your problem.
Problems like this need a flow chart attitude, Is it a septic system or city sewer? If it's a septic system then have your septic tank pumped out, and add Rid-X to it for the next few months to help with the waste. And stop flushing wipes! If it's a city sewer the problem could be in the street, if so you don't have a snake long enough to do the job call a Pro. Do you have a clean out plug in the front lawn, or where ever the city sewer is hooked up? If yes then open it up and look in, if the water/sewage is coming almost to the top you could try to use your own snake to give it a shot and see if you can reach the clog, but the key here is if there is water/sewage backed up into this pipe, the blockage is not in the house but outside of it. Good luck and get air circulating in that basement ASAP, that smell is not doing anyone any good.
It sounds like you may have roots or another obstruction between the drain and your road. Roto-rooter can clean these out. I used to live in a house that needed this every 6 months. In our area, this is only about $100 repair
You can rent electric snakes and cameras if you want to do it yourself. But you kind of need some experience at interpreting what the camera is showing you. If you do this, get a snake that’s long enough to go all the way to the street if you’re on city sewer. The city I live in will come out, at no charge, and check to see if the blockage is at/in the main sewer.
