HELP! How do I get my Ninja blender cap to unscrew from the cup?

Hi everyone. Please help - this is a major emergency icon .

I made a smoothie in a Ninja blender. I use this blender practically every day, but this time I was unable to unscrew the cap (the part with the blade) from the cup (both parts are plastic). I tried with all my might, and even asked a few friends to give it a shot, but it won't budge!

I checked online for ideas (immersing the base in hot water, letting oil drip down from the sides to loosen it) but so far none of them have worked . Please - if anyone on Hometalk has a solution, share it with me! I need my smoothie!! icon icon

Maybe try putting it in the freezer for a little while?

  • Deb Deb on Apr 14, 2019

If Homeroad's freezer trick doesn't work, I would try drizzling dish soap down into the threads. Let it sit a while then give it a go. Good Luck!

How about asking their customer service for a solution?

I would continue to soak in really hot soapy water. It will work eventually

Anything work??? Mine is stuck too :*(

Same problem, easy solution. Take a pan and add 1-2 teaspoons of liquid dishsoap. Set the jar on its black cap in the pan. Fill with the pan with water until the black cap is completely submerged. Heat the water until it almost boils. Take the jar out and dry it off while the jar and lid are still warm. I had to wear latex gloves to get a grip on both the jar and the lid. It unscrewed for me surprisingly easily.

Same just happened to me first time...use nearly every day!

The soapy water in pot, put black lid portion into water, hold until almost boil...WORKED.

Presto, black screw lid with blade finally came off with normal effort twist.

    What a crazy thing!

    Very simple microwave 20 secs

  • Harm Harm on Oct 05, 2022

    Microwave 30 sec. Totally worked!!!

Thank you!!! I tried microwaving for 35 seconds and boom! It worked, though it was quite explosive when it opened - some of the smoothie that was inside came flying out during the "explosion." I probably should've only put it in for 30 seconds. 🤪 Anyway, problem solved! Thank you so much! 🙂

This issue has happened on several occasions with my Ninja cup. Tonight it's not moving at all. . I will try all the efforts above, nervous about the microwave step. I'll boil and see where this takes me.

I haven't tried the microwave solution and would be very wary of it damaging the microwave because of the metal blades. All who might try this be aware of the wattage of your microwave and the timing. I'd start off using very few seconds.

Me too, I would be apprehensive about putting metal in the microwave, would opt for the near boiling water , which did work.

I had the same issue and ik he posted it in 2019 but in case anyone needs an easier solution.. pliers! Lol that cap was stuck on there really good and that’s the only thing that got it off in less than a couple mins!

Hello, here is the way to fix this.

You need to unplug the blender (so it won't run while you try and unscrew it). Screw the plastic bottle into the blade assembly (to the right), but not too tight. Then, push down firmly on the bottle, and twist the plastic bottle to the left. It should unhook from the base.

I think Washing Up liquid might be the answer . Leave it a while before you try again to dislodge it. Maybe this time it went on slightly off thread?

Try sitting the glass in a bowl of water with some Dawn and microwave for a minute. I have the same blender and I had to soak mine in hot water. When you do get it off, rub oil on the treads.
