The red rhododendron was planted by my husbands wife who passed away from cancer 5 years ago along the back fence and i want to leave it in that spot.I planted a white rhododendron next to it but need to move it as it is to close to the fence.I have many plants in containers ,2 white rhododendrons,1 josee lilac ,1 hydrangea, and was wondering if i should put them next to the red rhodo?or will they clash?should i put all rhodos and use the other plants for the front yard?I want to hide the back fence that is slowly falling apart but yet the light is dappled due to the trees.I am not fond of yellow and my friend said put purple rhodo next to the red and in the top right corner a white rhodo.I need some advice as to what would look good together any suggestions ?

My marigold plants are growing. I heard that pinching the buds until Autumn will allow them to grow without killing the plant. Is this true?

There are many shades of purple. I don’t think deep purple, like purple splendor or polar nights, would clash with red. But separate them with white and they should be fine.
I would plant hydrangea in pink on each side the dont get as tall as the rhododendron but will compliment it nicely.
white Candytuft.
Purple and red? No. Check the size your hydrangeas will grow. Some are very small. Some are very large. I have one that's well over 10 ft tall. Put one white Rhody on each side of the existing one - far enough from the Rhody & fence. And don't destroy too many tree roots digging. Put some smaller Azaleas (that will stay smaller) at their feet to hide their bare branches (unless you like that). Put the hydrangea(s) where they will get a fair amount of shade. Put the lilac somewhere else. Lilacs prefer full sun. Most plants come in a variety of sizes so you can choose what you need. Never buy a plant without checking it's eventual size or you may end up with a monster.
Maybe some pretty Clematis in a couple of spots. They come in a lot of different colors, including red and white striped. Also different bloom times,so you can have color at different times of the year.
There are many climbing plants that will help fill in.
